Since planning a wedding is a big undertaking, we have listed some information and guidelines below to help make it easier!

The Date

It is important to pick a date for your wedding as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment! If you would like to book the Sanctuary or the Chapel, please contact us as soon as possible to reserve your special day and time!

Marriage Preparation Meetings

Marriage Preparation Meetings with the Minister are a prerequisite. This involves the bride and groom viewing 5 short videos, followed by 2-3 meeting with the Minister to discuss the content and to plan the wedding service.

The Marriage License should be left with the Church Office at least 1 week prior to the date of the wedding, unless other arrangements are made with the Minister.

Booking the Sanctuary

To book the Sanctuary for your Wedding, a fee of $500 is required at the time of your booking. This will reserve your date and time so you can continue with the rest of your planning! It also will cover the costs for the use of the Church and for the services of our Minister, Music Director or Audio/Visual Technician and Caretaker. Should you need to cancel, a full refund will be given upon 30 days notice. The Sanctuary is wheelchair accessible.

Booking the Chapel

For a smaller wedding celebration (less than 40 people), the Chapel is also available to book. Fees are available upon request. The Chapel is wheelchair accessible with an elevator to the second-floor.

Booking the Hall

If you wish to book the Church Hall for your reception for hor d'oeuvres following the ceremony, please book this with the secretary as soon as possible. If you wish to have one of our ladies groups cater your event, please also let the secretary know ahead of time so she can arrange the details. Please not that the serving of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on church property.

Booking the Organist

A meeting should be arranged with the Organist at least 3 Weeks Prior to the date of the wedding to discuss musical selections.  Use of the organ or piano by other musicians is at the discretion of Knox’s Minister.  


Audio & Visual

If you wish to use the audio equipment and the projectors that are available in the Sanctuary, there is a minimum fee of $100 for up to 2 hours. This will cover the rehearsal and the wedding ceremony and any additional time will be assessed at $25 per hour. The Audio and Visual equipment can only be operated by someone from Knox Church who has the appropriate training and permission. This fee is included in the $500.00 charge if the A/V person is in place of the Organist.

Off-Site Weddings

Rev. Don McCallum is available for weddings that would not be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel for an Honorarium of $200.

Bulletins and Decorations

Wedding Bulletins can be made up by the Church Administrator. The cost is $10/hour and 10 cents per copy, plus the cost of the bulletin covers (if not supplied).
Decorating the Church - Please check with the Secretary regarding the hours that the church is open for decorating.  Please note that the Pulpit may not be moved. The Church has a set of Candelabras which may be used for the wedding service. These may NOT be removed from the church under any circumstances and there is a fee of $10.00 for supplying the candles.

We request that confetti, flower petals or rice NOT be scattered inside the church or on the church grounds.
